Love Letter - You have built yourself for this situation

This is what we train for. This is what we have prepared ourselves for. This is why we will ALL be ok once the dust settles.

Yes some of us, if not all of us, are experiencing some very hard times. Our careers may be affected. Our families may be affected. Our friends may be affected. We are all feeling this and it is hard to believe we are actually experiencing this. It legit feels like a movie but it's not. It is currently our situation. There are two ways we can go with this, either we go at it with a negative mindset or we go at it with a positive mindset. We have the choice on how to handle this situation and my hope is that we have all learned that we have built callouses in our minds and that we are capable of overcoming anything.

Everyday you came to our gym you added to that calloused mind. Our workouts are not easy, they are physically and mentally challenging. Majority of people who decide not to do CrossFit is because of their mental not physical inabilities. We can all perform CrossFit but not all are willing to endure the mental aspect of it. It is a lot easier to go to a gym and move at a comfortable pace, check your phone, look for music, talk to a friend, look at yourself in the mirror and then do a couple of reps. We don't do that. Once that clock hits zero, we are moving. Even before that, our warm ups are considered workouts to many. How many of us find yourself sweating, shaking and breathing hard during the coaching portion? Moving with intensity and continuing to move is not easy. We all have that voice in our head that tells us to just stop or go hide or fake an injury or tell coach you don't feel good but we don't. We keep moving forward and keep getting both mentally and physically stronger.

This is a very hard time for all of us but remind yourself that you are built to handle this type of moment. Remind yourself that you have overcome other challenges before. Remind yourself that you have the ability to stand up and say I will be ok, regardless of the situation.

You have built yourself for this moment, so don't let it bring you down. Instead rise up just like you do in every workout you have done at your home away from home.

Respectfully,

Josh Melendez
