Why You Should Sign Up for the CrossFit Be Someone Competition

On October 11th, CrossFit Be Someone will be hosting our 8th annual in-house competition. Every year, this event brings together our community in a way that’s hard to capture unless you’ve experienced it yourself. It’s a day filled with energy, laughter, personal victories, and a whole lot of fun.

For many athletes, though, the idea of competing can feel intimidating. Maybe you don’t view yourself as a “competitor.” Maybe you think you don’t stand a chance of landing on the podium. Or maybe you feel like you’re still too “new” to CrossFit to put yourself out there.

Here’s the truth: those are the exact reasons why you should sign up.

Competing doesn’t have to mean chasing first place. It means showing up for yourself, pushing your limits, and celebrating your growth alongside the people who cheer you on every single week in class.

So, why should you sign up? Let’s break it down.

1. It’s Going to Be a Fun-Ass Time

Competitions have a different vibe than regular classes. The music is louder, the atmosphere is electric, and the energy is contagious. You’ll laugh, high-five, and cheer until your voice is hoarse. Whether you’re doing your very first CrossFit competition or your eighth, there’s nothing quite like the adrenaline of stepping on the floor while your friends scream your name.

It’s not just about the workouts. It’s about the memories. You’ll always remember that one rep you thought you couldn’t get but did, or that moment when your entire gym circled around you to push you through the final seconds. These are the moments that stick with you long after the soreness fades.

2. You’ll Learn How Much More You Have in You

Every CrossFit athlete has been surprised at some point by what they’re capable of. A competition magnifies that. When the stakes feel a little higher and the clock is ticking, you often find another gear you didn’t know existed.

Maybe you’ll PR a lift in the middle of an event. Maybe you’ll get your first pull-up, double-under, or toes-to-bar under the pressure of the crowd. Or maybe you’ll simply discover that your mental toughness is greater than you realized.

The competition environment has a way of bringing out the best in you. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about seeing what happens when you give yourself the chance to rise to the occasion.

3. You’ll Create Deeper Connections With Your Gym Friends

CrossFit is special because it’s not just about fitness. It’s about community. During an in-house competition, that sense of community is on full display. You’ll partner up with people you might not usually work out with, cheer for athletes you don’t normally train alongside, and bond with others over the shared experience of putting it all out there.

These moments create stronger relationships inside the gym. After competing together, you’ll feel a deeper connection to your fellow athletes. You’ll know what it feels like to push through a tough workout side by side, and you’ll carry that respect into every class afterward.

4. You’ll Prove Something to Yourself

When the dust settles at the end of competition day, you’ll walk away with one thing above all else: pride.

You’ll be proud you signed up, proud you gave it your best, and proud you didn’t let fear hold you back. Regardless of where you place, you’ll leave with a sense of accomplishment that only comes from doing something a little outside your comfort zone.

The truth is, the competition isn’t about beating anyone else. It’s about showing yourself what you’re capable of when you commit. You’ll walk into the gym on Monday with a little more confidence, a little more grit, and a whole lot of motivation to keep going.

5. You’ll Be Part of Our Gym’s Legacy

This isn’t just any event. It’s our 8th annual in-house competition. That means seven years of athletes before you have stepped up, signed their name on the roster, and joined in on this tradition. By competing, you’re becoming part of that legacy.

Someday, a brand-new athlete will walk into CrossFit Be Someone feeling nervous about signing up for their first competition, and they’ll see you out there giving it your all. You’ll inspire them to take that same leap. That’s how our community grows stronger year after year.

6. There’s a Spot for Everyone

Still worried you’re too “new” or not “fit enough”? Let’s set the record straight: there’s a place for every athlete in this competition.

Events are designed with scaling options, just like our daily workouts. Whether you’ve been doing CrossFit for two months or ten years, you’ll be challenged in a way that’s appropriate for you. What matters isn’t how heavy your barbell is or how fast you move. It’s that you’re out there giving your best.

No one remembers the scoreboard at the end of the day, but they will remember your effort, your heart, and the way you showed up.

Final Thoughts: Just Sign Up

If you’re on the fence about competing, here’s your sign: do it.

Don’t wait until you feel “ready” or “good enough.” That moment doesn’t exist. The truth is, you’re ready right now. You don’t need to be the strongest, the fastest, or the most experienced. You just need to show up with a good attitude and a willingness to push yourself.

On October 11th, we’ll throw down together at CrossFit Be Someone. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be challenging, and it’s going to be one of those days you’ll look back on with pride.

So, grab your spot, lace up your shoes, and let’s make the 8th annual in-house competition our best one yet.
