Love Letter - Which lazy are you?

We are all lazy in our own ways but what I have noticed throughout my life is there are really only three types (tier) of lazy. Tier 1 lazy is flat out just lazy. They are fully aware of their laziness and believe that one day they are just going to snap out of it. They say they will do something but have no intentions to actually do it. Tier 2 lazy is someone who thinks they are not lazy but when given the choice, they take the lazy route because it’s convenient. Or they consistently procrastinate because in their mind they procrastinated before and eventually did the task so they think it’s ok do that. Tier 3 lazy is someone who knows that laziness exist and it doesn’t consume them if they take a “lazy day” to relax. They understand that being lazy can lead to a domino effect so they’ve created routines to keep them on track.

It’s so easy to be lazy because it’s so comfortable. You can literally sleep in, order breakfast and watch TV on your phone and you have not moved. With technology now a days, it’s almost as if we are being set up to BE lazy. Everything is so convenient and we have to be aware of this. Being lazy is a slippery slope. We have to put ourselves in a position to avoid this as much as possible.

You have heard me consistently state that I want all of you to be great. But I’ll be lying to you if I told you that you’re going to get there by being Tier 1 or Tier 2 lazy. One of our core values is Live Hungry. That core value is all about doing more than the bare minimum, it’s about chasing greatness. Living Hungry is about always pursuing excellence, putting first thing first, being proactive, leaving things better than you found it and treating small things as big things.

You have heard these principles and there meanings many times and you’re going to continue to hear them because they are extremely important. We wouldn’t be doing our full job as coaches if we weren’t focusing on your character. We wouldn’t be doing our full job as coaches if we weren’t putting options in place to help you achieve your goals. We wouldn’t be doing our job as coaches if we weren’t trying to help you avoid unhealthy habits such as living lazy.

So I want you to take a second and be honest with yourself, which tier of lazy are you? Are you Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3? If you’re a Tier 1 or Tier 2, what will it take to become Tier 3?

Always remember, we are here for you.

Respectfully,

Josh
