Love Letter - Competition is Good for You

No really it is.

For two reasons:

1. You get out of your comfort zone and push yourself more.
2. It’s rewarding and fun.

Here’s the deal. Anything you have accomplished or gained in life, it was a competition.

The highest GPA in your class. You were competing against every other student.

That position at your job. You were competing against every other candidate who applied.

The business you receive as a business owner. You are competing against every other business who offers your service.

That house you’re living in. You were competing against every other offer that was put in.

Your significant other. You competed against every other single person who had their eye on them.

You from last year. You compete against yourself each day to be better than you were yesterday.

There is no difference when it comes to fitness. The reality is that if you take a look at the scores in SugarWOD, you are competing.

Competition happens naturally in a CrossFit setting. It’s what makes us move faster and longer and overall harder. You see the person to the left and right of you and make it a point to push yourself a little more.

If you have ever done a CrossFit workout by yourself, you know your intensity is different meaning it is much less. What is the difference? There is no one around you to compete against.

We want our members to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone. We want our members to have fun and feel proud of themselves.

This is why we host our annual In-House competition.

I challenge you to sign up for it. I challenge you to challenge yourself.

Trust me when I say, you’ll be happy you did regardless of where you place.

Respectfully Sent,

Josh Melendez
