One of the biggest pain points athletes express when starting a fitness routine, especially in CrossFit, is the fear that the programming feels random or inconsistent. You show up on Monday and it is heavy lifting, Wednesday is conditioning, Friday is gymnastics, and suddenly it feels like there is no structure at all. But here is the truth:
CrossFit’s “constantly varied” does not mean random.
And it definitely does not mean “made up on the spot.”
At CrossFit Be Someone, there is a method behind the madness, both in our group classes and in our personal training and semi personal training programs. The magic only becomes clear when you show up consistently.
Why CrossFit Is Not Random (Even If It Feels That Way)
CrossFit’s foundation is general physical preparedness (GPP), the idea that you should be ready for anything life throws your way. To build that level of fitness, you must train multiple skills, energy systems, and movement patterns. This requires variation, but variation with intention.
Every month at CrossFit Be Someone, we present a monthly theme at the whiteboard. It may be a strength cycle, a gymnastics progression, a conditioning emphasis, or mixed modal skill development. These themes guide the workouts across the next four weeks.
Within each week, there is a flow:
- One day may bias strength.
- Another leans into aerobic conditioning.
- Another focuses on skill development.
- Another challenges you with a mixed test or benchmark.
Across the full training week, the workouts balance each other out. They build on the prior day and prepare you for the next. When you are consistent, you experience that balance exactly the way it was designed.
Inconsistency Creates the Illusion of Inconsistent Programming
When attendance becomes sporadic, maybe you show up only on Mondays one week and only Thursdays the next, it becomes very easy to feel like the workouts lack structure. That is not because the programming is inconsistent. It is because you are only seeing fragments of the full picture.
Imagine reading only every third chapter of a book and then assuming the story jumps around.
Or watching a movie in pieces and feeling like the plot is disjointed.
The same thing happens with training.
Consistency is not just about showing up. It is about connecting the dots.
When you are here regularly:
- You feel progressions stacking logically.
- You notice themes developing week over week.
- You adapt to strength cycles and aerobic phases.
- You experience the intended balance in movement patterns.
Your body feels the structure even before your mind recognizes it. That is how fitness progresses.
Personal Training and Semi Personal Training Are Designed With Purpose
While group classes are built around GPP, our personal training and semi personal training take a different approach. They are focused on specific physical preparedness (SPP).
This means every rep, every interval, and every progression is designed with your goals in mind.
If your goals include:
- Building muscle
- Improving mobility
- Getting your first pull up
- Rehabbing an injury
- Preparing for a competition
Then your coach builds a program that is intentionally biased toward what you want to achieve. That bias is not random. It is how you reach a specific outcome faster and more effectively.
At CrossFit Be Someone, our coaches are trained to program with purpose. Nothing is thrown together. Nothing is left to chance. Whether you are in a group class or working privately with a coach, there is a plan behind what you are doing. The more consistent you are, the more clearly you will experience it.
