The CrossFit Games are here, and if you're a fan of the sport, it's an exciting time. Athletes from all over the world will gather to compete in grueling events that test the very limits of human performance. The goal? To crown the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth.
But let’s be clear: that is not the goal at CrossFit Be Someone.
This is one of the most common misconceptions about CrossFit. People see the Games on TV or social media and assume that what happens at that elite level is what happens inside every CrossFit gym. While the movements may look similar — barbell lifts, pull-ups, running, rowing, and more — the purpose, the intensity, and the lifestyle are entirely different.
The CrossFit Games are a showcase of fitness dominance. These athletes are full-time professionals who train anywhere from 3 to 8 hours a day. They follow strict meal plans created by nutritionists, have recovery protocols managed by specialists, work with coaches on specific weaknesses, and treat their fitness like a job because it is one. They are in the top 0.01% of the fitness world. Watching them compete is inspiring, no doubt, but it's important to remember that their path isn’t the one most of us are walking.
At CrossFit Be Someone, we’re chasing fitness competence. Our mission is to help everyday people improve their health, longevity, and quality of life. We’re not here to turn you into the next CrossFit Games athlete. We're here to help you move better, feel better, and live better.
We train to function well in life, not just dominate in sport. That means being able to lift your kids without back pain, having the endurance to hike with friends, staying strong and mobile as you age, and showing up as the best version of yourself for your family and career. One workout a day, scaled to your current fitness level and life demands, is enough. That one hour in the gym helps you perform better in the other 23 hours outside the gym.
Many of us juggle careers, families, social commitments, and everything in between. Fitness is a vital part of our lifestyle, but it’s not our whole life. That’s why at CrossFit Be Someone, we focus on relative intensity, meaning we train hard based on where you are, not where Games athletes are. Our goal is to build work capacity across broad time and modal domains so you can handle whatever life throws your way, not just a leaderboard.
Yes, you’ll see some of the same movements in our workouts. Yes, you might do a version of a workout that resembles one at the Games. But our purpose is completely different. We’re not preparing you for a podium finish; we’re preparing you for real life.
So as you watch the Games this weekend, cheer, be amazed, and enjoy the incredible display of human potential. Just remember, that level of fitness isn’t the expectation at our gym, and it certainly isn’t the standard for success. At CrossFit Be Someone, success is showing up consistently, giving your best effort, and becoming just a little bit better than you were yesterday.
And if, by chance, you do have the desire to compete at a high level or even make a run at the CrossFit Games, talk to your coaches. We’re here to help guide you on that journey if it’s a path you want to pursue. But for the majority of our community, one hour a day of smart, intentional effort is all it takes to change your life.
So enjoy the Games, and then come back to the gym ready to work toward your own version of fitness greatness. One hour. One workout. One day at a time.
